Connected Electric Motorcycles for Sales and Rental

We added smart control hardware (VCU), a Merchant Operation System and Rider's App to a Canadian seller's existing electric motorcycle models. The customer remained free to choose its models, with their original functions preserved. The added connected features support sales and give the business tools to start exploring rental.

Project Background

Keep the Models, Add Connected Features

The customer was selling electric motorcycles in Canada. Its existing models had no connected system, so the business was focused on the sale itself. Consumers had no service for checking their electric motorcycle's location or remotely freezing it.

The customer continued to choose its own electric motorcycle models. We fitted smart control hardware (VCU) to the models it already used, preserving their original functions and adding connected capabilities.

The Merchant Operation System connects those electric motorcycles to the Rider's App. Consumers gain location access and remote freeze, while the seller gains tools for managing customer records and monitoring its electric motorcycles.

Sales & Rental

Two Ways the Connected System Supports the Business

More Features to Offer Buyers

Consumers can check their electric motorcycle's location and remotely freeze it through a web or app interface. The seller can demonstrate these functions during a sale and give buyers access after delivery.

A Basis for Trying Rental

The merchant can monitor each rented electric motorcycle's location and driving route, and use remote freeze when it needs to restrict use. These controls help the business manage its rental assets as it begins testing a rental offering.

Location & Driving History

See Where an Electric Motorcycle Has Been

The dashboard brings the reported location, driving route and connection status into one view. A merchant can inspect an individual electric motorcycle's route to understand where it has been used and follow up when its use needs attention.

Remote freeze adds a way to restrict use alongside that visibility. It takes effect after the electric motorcycle is switched off; the platform distinguishes a sent command from a status confirmed by a later report.

Customer & Electric Motorcycle Records

Keep Each Electric Motorcycle Linked to Its Customer

Registration records bring the customer's contact details, electric motorcycle model and frame serial number together. Linking each record to the smart control device gives the merchant a record to manage and lets consumers access their own electric motorcycle.

That relationship supports both sales handover and rental administration. Staff can look up the assigned customer and update the record as part of their daily work.

Ongoing Customer Service

Manage GPS Access After the Sale

The merchant can grant a free first year of GPS service, set its expiry and manually renew access after receiving payment. This gives the seller a way to manage the connected service after the initial electric motorcycle sale.

The system is adapted for local use: English interfaces, Canadian phone numbers and Toronto time, including daylight saving changes. Staff permissions also let the business share daily management tasks.

What the Project Enables

Connected Sales, With the Tools to Explore Rental

The customer continues to sell its chosen electric motorcycle models, with their original functions intact. Location access and remote freeze are added services, supported by a platform for customer records and ongoing GPS service. Buyers receive extra functions they can use after delivery, while the merchant has controls for monitoring and managing its assets.

For rental, the project provides the tools to begin trying the business model: keep a customer assignment for each electric motorcycle, review its route and location, and use remote freeze when needed. These capabilities give the seller a practical starting point for rental operations.
